Robin Melén is a recent graduate of Leadership Westchester, a program of Volunteer New York! She is on the editorial board of Philanthropy New York and is a member of the steering committee for the Westchester Building Futures initiative. She also manages communications and public relations for the Foundation.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 2013, Robin worked for many years as a managing editor at local newspapers and national magazines. She is currently chair of the governance committee of Rehabilitation Through the Arts in Katonah, a nonprofit organization which uses the creative arts as a tool for social and cognitive transformation behind prison walls. She is also co-chair of the Somers Affordable Housing Board.
She has worked since 2002 as a volunteer at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, tutoring students in the Marymount Manhattan College program there. She has served on the boards of several Westchester nonprofits, including the Hudson Valley Writers' Center and the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts.
She holds a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University, and a master's degree in writing and a certificate in nonprofit management, both from Manhattanville College. She and her husband, Eric, have been residents of Somers since 1998.
