The Westchester Community Foundation uses grantmaking to invest in high-performing organizations with transformative ideas that improve lives and strengthen our community.
We invest in programs and projects that tackle pressing needs our community face.
We prioritize collaborations and thoughtful partnerships that foster shared learning and action.
We look for best practices and emerging ideas that lead to innovative approaches to solving problems.
We regard our grantmaking as an investment in the social good of our community. We work with our grantees to improve performance through ongoing assessment.
Who we fund
The Foundation makes grants to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations operating or proposing to operate programs for the benefit of Westchester residents and communities.
Agencies with a pending 501(c)(3) application must use an approved organization as a fiscal agent.
Where appropriate, we will fund local government entities, including school districts.
All agencies must be vetted and approved prior to receiving a grant. We look for good governance practices and organizations with a strong financial position.
THE FOUNDATION DOES NOT make grants from its competitive grants program to:
equipment purchases that are not intrinsic to the proposed project
routine operating expenses
We no longer provide technical assistance grants, for instance for strategic planning, to individual organizations.
The Foundation's grant request cycles for 2019 are complete. No further applications will be accepted.
The Foundation will offer three grant cycles in 2020.
