Westchester County is one of the most expensive places to live and one of the least affordable housing markets in the country. The high cost of housing leaves many individuals and families with fewer resources for food, heat and utilities, childcare, transportation, healthcare, and long-term savings. Too many low and moderate income families are completely priced out of neighborhoods throughout the county. The Westchester Community Foundation seeks to create housing opportunities in Westchester that are fair, affordable, and accessible to families with lower incomes. To support this goal, the Foundation is investing in more effective partnerships with and among fair and affordable housing stakeholders. Under the Fair and Affordable Housing Initiative, the Foundation is supporting training, technical assistance, and peer support to a leadership team of the Not-for-Profit Housing Coalition to address the long-term goal of developing 10,000 units of fair and affordable housing.
